Inspired by Trapholt Artmuseum, Flensted Mobiles have created a new classic mobile, Flying Chairs, that is in keeping with Danish Design's proud traditions of creating unique chairs. With Flying Chairs, Ole Flensted extends a greeting to Arne Jacobsen, Børge Mogensen, Finn Juhl, Poul Kjaerholm and others of the great chair makers in Danish furniture design. Though Flying Chairs is not for sitting, it is very comfortable to sit and observe it while letting your mind drift. Material: Cardboard. Overall dimensions: 21.7" x 17.7" (55cm x 45cm). Assembled and ready to be enjoyed. Mobiles are a traditional craft in Denmark, but the modern Danish mobile - as a decoration for the home - was created in 1954 by Christian Flensted and his wife Grethe to celebrate the birth of their first daughter. Flensted Mobiles are hand made in Denmark and are so designed that the elements are in constant motion while the entire mobile maintains a harmonic balance. Today, Christian and Grethe´s son, Ole and his wife Aase continue the family tradition, with ideas for new and original mobiles.
