The Frank Lloyd Wright Coonley Playhouse Center Window Stained Glass is based on a panel in the Avery Coonley Playhouse, Riverside, IL (c.1912). Unlike Wright's early designs with their nature derivations, the Playhouse windows are purely geometric in composition and feature bright, mostly primary colors. This design may have been inspired by a parade, the colored glass simulates a haphazard, yet controlled, arrangement of balloons, confetti and flags. The windows were the focal point of the playhouse, actually a kindergarten operated by Mrs. Coonley. On this glass panel, enamel colors are individually applied to a single sheet of glass which is then kiln fired to permanently fuse the enamels to the glass. The panel is wood framed in black with matching stand. Ht: 14.5". W: 5". The Playhouse panels may be purchased either individually or for extra savings as a Set of Three (see below).
