The Tube Watch Stainless Steel with Black Leather band is the result of a collaboration between industrial designer Piet Hein Eek and Dutch brand LEFF amsterdam. Without being held back by rules or habits, Piet Hein Eek designs and manufactures furniture, lighting and accessories, but also complete interiors. The LEFF brand’s motto is “Nobody really needs a clock” – a sentiment shared by Eek, who suggested that nobody really needs another watch either, especially with the prevalence of smartphones. Why design watches these days, since time is all around us? Because of the challenge of creating a beautiful timepiece.
The precision cut and the high quality materials give this watch its refined, yet rugged and industrial character. The watch face is surrounded by a serrated ring with cog-like indentations and protrusions that indicate the hours. The hour and minute indicators of the watch are integrated into a cylindrical casing rather than printed on the face. Eek said he was able to bring something new to watch and clock design by building this integral part of the face into the design, rather than treating the numbers as an after treatment.
The Tube Watch Stainless Steel features a 42mm stainless steel case and dial with lightly brushed IP brass. Mineral crystal. Water resistant 5ATM/50m. Japanese Miyota 2035 quartz movement and black leather band.
