Constructed using over 53,000 tons of steel and 6 million rivets, the bridge took 8 years to construct and opened in 1932. The bridge is composed of two 28-panel arch trusses and it is one of the largest steel-arch bridges in the world with a span of 1,650 ft (500m) and a total length of 3,770 ft (1,149 m).
